Details
MARAZION TREVENNER SQUARE, Marazion SW 5230-5330 5/73 Trenow Cottage - GV II
House, originally a farmhouse. Circa late C17, remodelled circa mid C18. Pebbledashed front, otherwise painted rubble. Grouted scantle slate at front of roof, corrugated asbestos at rear sweeping lower over C18 outshut. Brick chimneys over the gable ends. Cast-iron ogee gutters. Plan: double depth plan: parlour left, larger hall/kitchen, right, passage between leading to central stair at rear between 2 shallow service rooms all within the outshut. Exterior : 2 storeys. 3 window south front with doorway central to symmetrical fenestration all grouped towards the left. C20 ledged door and 4-pane horned sashes. Interior : largely unaltered since the C18 with most carpentry and joinery of that date: 2-panel doors, ovolo-moulded beams, muntin and plank partitions and pegged roof structure. In the slate-flagged kitchen is a large original fireplace with chamfered and stopped oak lintel and large oven with corbelled domed roof, partly rebuilt at the front to make semi-circular niche, probably in the C18. Leading from the right hand chamber to the rear outshut is a probably resited original circa late C17 2- panel door with wide muntins and rails.
