Details
SANCREED SELLAN SW 42 NW 5/304 Great Sellan Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. Circa early-mid C19. Coursed granite front with granite dressings, otherwise granite rubble with granite dressings. Grouted scantle slate-roofs. ½- hipped roof over house with left-hand hip replaced with asbestos slate. Original brick chimney with cogged cornice over right-hand side, C20 chimney over left-hand side and tall C20 chimney at far left over gable end of adjoining wing. Plan: Double depth plan house plus 1-room plan service wing or cottage set back on the left with outshut at its rear. House has 2 rooms at the front, probably kitchen/living room on the left and parlour on the right flanking an entrance hall/cross passage leading to stair hall between 2 service rooms. Exterior: 2 storeys. Nearly symmetrical south-south-east front with doorway (right of middle) central to fenestration. Original openings. Probably original panelled door boarded over with original 4-pane overlight with wide panes. Circa late C19 or C20 horned sashes: 4-pane sashes except for 6-pane sash in slightly wider opening left of doorway. Rear has original openings: original ledged door; circa late C19 horned sashes except for probably original 15-pane fixed-light stair window and upper 6-pane light of hornless sash on the left. Interior not inspected.
