Details
ST BURYAN TREVEDRAN SW 42 SW 8/161 Lower Trevedran Farmhouse - GV II 2 adjoining farmhouses. C17, extended and remodelled in the C18 and early C19. Granite rubble with granite dressing, some granite ashlar, some cob. L-plan wheat reed thatched roof over left-hand house, grouted scantle slate hipped roof over right-hand house. Dressed granite chimney over the left-hand former gable end of original house, another granite chimney over front gable end of left-hand wing, otherwise brick chimneys. Plan: Overall U-shaped plan. Original house was probably a 2-room plan with lobby entrance and stair between the rooms. In the C18 the house was extended with a wing in front of and beside the left-hand side and probably later in the C18 another wing was added in front of the right-hand side. This wing was extended circa early C19 and is now a separate house. Exterior: 2 storeys. Original north front has C17 chamfered doorway (now fitted with 12-pane casement) between 2 parallel C18 wings. There is a blocked window opening over the doorway. Left-hand wing has 2-window front facing into the courtyard. Right-hand window is blocked; left-hand window opening has pair of hornless circa early C19 sashes with glazing bars to the bottom light; first floor windows are circa late C19 or C20 6-pane horned sashes. This wing has a circa early C20 thatched entrance porch midway to its left-hand wall. Front gable end has small blocked 1st floor window. Rear wall has C18 or C19 openings with 2 windows to each floor. Horned sashes. Right-hand wing has C20 door and windows in C18 and C19 openings. Interior not inspected.
