Details

ST COLUMB MAJOR BANK STREET (west side), SW 9063-9163 St Columb Major 17/191 No 24 (Grove House) - GV II

House. Circa early C19, with additions and alterations of later C19 and C20. Stone rubble with brick and stone dressings and granite quoins. Hipped slate roof with ridge tiles. Stacks to sides with brick shafts. Partly slate-hung. Plan: 2-room plan with central entrance, each room heated from a stack at the side. There is a small one-room plan addition of later C19 at the right end, slightly set back. Exterior: 2 storeys, symmetrical 3-window front. Ground floor has central C20 door with overlight, C19 doorcase with pilasters and hood on consoles. C19 4-pane sash with cambered brick arch and keystone to right and left. First floor has three early C19 16-pane sashes with brick cambered arches and keystones. Set back to right is the lower 2-storey addition, slate-hung, wih gable end to right. C20 greenhouse at ground floor and C19 4-pane sash at first floor. Interior: Not inspected.
