Nos. 3 and 4 Seaton
Mill Cottages and
barn adjoining

Farmhouse, converted to house and 2 cottages, with barn. Late C18 and early C19
extension. C20 rock-faced stucco, with C19 eaves cornice and broad angle
pilasters, on moulded plinth. Graduated greenslate roof with coped gables;
roughcast chimney stacks. Barn of calciferous sandstone rubble under corrugated
asbestos roof. 2 storeys, 2 bays of double span with rear right-angled barn.
Sash windows with glazing bars in painted stone architraves. Left return wall
has stucco porch with panelled door and patterned fanlight. Right return wall
has C20 panelled door and sash windows with glazing bars in painted stone
surrounds. Rear doorway is entrance to No.3 Seaton Mill Cottages. Barn has
central segmental cart doorway with flanking doorways, all under loft doorway
and slit vents. Doorway nearest house is entrance to No.4 Seaton Mill
Cottages. Rear farmhouse span is late C18 with C19 front extension. Interior
has dividing hall with cupolas, the original front wall of house retains one of
its sash windows with glazing bars. Winder stair has patterned cast iron rails,
wall niches flanking plaster panel. C19 panelled doors and moulded plaster
ceilings.
