6/15 Stable block to north-west of The Nunnery
G.V. II
Stable block to The Nunnery. Early C19. Coursed and squared sandstone rubble walls with raised quoins and ashlar dressings; hipped green slate roof, ashlar ridge chimney stacks. Single storey of numerous bays, enclosing courtyard on 4 sides. Central large elliptical arched entrance has quoined surround and carved panel of Aglionby coat of arms above; similar smaller entrance to right with C20 garage door between. Pointed casement windows with trefoil heads and rounded transoms; have impost blocks and keystones. Round vents above have raised stone surrounds. Square openings in side wall right; side wall left has blank wall with battlemented parapet, central entrance has reused inscription stone above, JOH AGLIONBY/JURISCON SULTUS 1694. Inner walls have flat arch entrances and square openings. Buildings derelict and unoccupied at time of survey. Listed partly for G.V. with The Nunnery.
