9/28 Sleddall House & area 6.2.68 railings (previously listed as Barclays Bank)
G.V. II
House, converted to office use. Late C18. 1830 date on rainwater head to north corner refers to no. 35 (listed separately). Incised stucco with chamfered plinth, 1st floor sill band, and corner pilaster to north. Slate roof with brick end chimneys. 3 storeys, 5 bays (symmetrical). Central C20 panelled door and rectangular fan with stone surround carrying cornice. 2 sashes with glazing bars to either side. 5 sashes with glazing bars to 1st floor; 5 sashes with glazing bars, of slightly reduced height, to top floor. Cast-iron area railings to front (c. early C19) have spearhead standards with plain shafts; fleurs-de-lis finials have shafts with lobed bud bases and lobed mushroom tops. Central gate is C20 wrought iron.
