BAMPTON KNIPE NY 51 NW 12/90 Knipe Hall and attached bank barn 6.2.68
- II House and attached barn. Late C16 with alterations c1630 and C18 additions. Stone rubble, part limewashed and slate roof, hipped to barn gable-end. North-east elevation has gabled wing to southern end and barn attached to northern end, of 2 storeys and 5 bays. Continuous dripstone over 3 bays of ground floor and entire 1st floor. Ground floor has 3-light single-chamfered mullioned windows with leaded glazing to 2nd and 3rd bays; end bays have small chamfered lights. 3-light windows to 1st floor, but bays have inserted horizontally sliding sash; end bay has small light. Entrances to 1st and 4th bays have chamfered reveals and blank doors. Wing has coped gable and end stack. Right return has small-paned casement and horizontally sliding sash. South-east return has gable-end stack. Dripcourse over 1st floor. Ground floor has 1:3:2-light windows; 1st floor has 1:2:2-light windows, all with wooden replacement mullions, that to ground floor of wing has label. Barn north-east elevation has entrance and inserted garage entrance; 3 inserted windows. Winnowing door and ventilation slots and holes. Triangular datestone, probably ex-situ, reads: "I & DT/1630" (Teasdale). South-west elevation has ramped barn entrance and 2 ground floor entrances to barn. House has outshut under catslide roof, sashed windows with glazing bars. To left a 2-light labelled window with large glazed opening above and small lights to left.
