Details
BARTON NY 42 SE SE 7/94 Elderbeck and Cottage
GV II 2 houses. Probably mid to late C18. Roughcast stone with slate roofs. West elevation of 2 storeys and 4 irregular bays, with single-storey bays to north and south. Coped gables. Windows are sashed, paired sashed windows to 3rd and 4th bays, which are wider. Entrance between 2nd and 3rd bays has stone surround, cornice and 6-panel door, 2 glazed, similar plainer entrance to 4th bay. 2 gable-end stacks and cross-axial stack. Single storey bays have blind Venetian windows, that to south end has inserted casement. Rear has outshuts, single storey bay to north forms open-fronted outbuilding. Said to have had panel over main entrance with Scots masonic symbols.
