6/47 Nunwick Old Hall
II
House. Early C18. Painted roughcast walls with V-jointed red sandstone quoins and eaves cornice. Graduated greenslate roof with banded red sandstone ashlar chimney stacks. 2 storeys, 4 bays. Centre panelled door in alternate-block quoined surround. Similar flanking doorways have now been partly blocked to give sash windows with glazing bars. Upper-floor sash windows with glazing bars in red sandstone architraves. Lower left projecting extension also has red sandstone quoins and a flat stone-mullioned window. Adjoining and forming an integral part is a rusticated gate pier under ball finial. Attached right round-arched doorway into courtyard has inscribed shields RW, ES 1845.
