II
Farmhouse. Late C16 for the Musgrave family with extensive C19 alterations. Cement rendered walls on coursed sandstone rubble, under C20 graduated greenslate roof with rebuilt C20 red sandstone chimney stacks. 2 storeys; 2-bay original house with C19 lower flanking wings. Off-centre C20 glazed door in C19 painted stone surround. Irregular sash and casement windows in C19 painted stone surrounds. Upper-floor C16 window with 2 round-headed lights under hoodmould; blocked C16 chamfered attic window. Wings have various C20 windows in C19 painted stone surrounds. Rear has upper-floor C16 window of 3 round-headed lights; and blocked C16 attic window. Remainder has C20 windows in C19 and C20 surrounds. Rear of right wing has been a stable with blocked segmental arch and external stone steps to loft doorway. Interior altered. At some time known as Plumpton Head Hall. Further barn extension and C20 rear garages are not of interest.
