SP 9433-9533 WOBURN BEDFORD STREET (East Side) 8/89 23.1.61 No. 18 (The Magpie Hotel) GV II Hotel and public house. C18 and C19 reworkings of earlier structure. Vitrified bricks laid mostly in header bond, with red brick dressings. Some timber framing with colourwashed brick infill visible in carriage arch. C20 shallow pitched tile roof 4-bay facade, of 3 storeys, top storey apparently of later date. Ground floor has carriage-arch to LH, rectangular projecting bay window, doorway to 3rd bay to tripartite sash window to RH. First floor has tripartite sash, canted bay above rectangular one, blind window to 3rd bay and sash window to RH. Top storey has blind window to 3rd bay and sash windows elsewhere. All windows have glazing bars and gauged brick flat arches. First floor sashes are flush to wall with moulded frames. Door is of 6 flush panels, in simply moulded architrave with cornice hood. Rendered band at first floor level. One red brick ridge stack, one red brick gable end stack.
