7/35 Former smithy cartshed
- approximately 20 metres to south-
east of Woolleigh Barton
GV II
Smithy, now garages. Probably late C19. Uncoursed stone rubble and roughly squared
and coursed stone. Gable-ended Welsh-slate roof.
Plan: Long range aligned north-west/south-east, adjoining the front garden wall to
Woolleigh Barton (q.v.). Forge to right and probably formerly open-fronted cartshed
to left. One storey.
Exterior: Two pairs of C20 large sliding boarded garage doors to left, replacing
either late C19 doors or formerly open fronted. C19 boarded door to right with
wrought-iron straps hinges and wooden lintel. Small window in right-hand gable end
and large window to rear.
Interior: Old forge in right-hand end room has very large bellows suspended from
wooden frame above. Stone cross wall. Late C19 roof with bolted collar trusses.
