Details

JACOBSTOWE JACOBSTOWE SS 50 SE 7/173 No 7 and adjoining cottage to left - GV II Pair of cottages. Circa mid C17. Plastered cob walls. Gable ended thatch roof. Brick stack at each end. Plan: each cottage apparently of 2-room plan, the outer room of each heated. C19 outshut behind right-hand cottage. Originally of integral construction with Swan Cottage to right (q.v.). Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3-window front, 2 to right-hand cottage of early C20 small-paned 2-light casements with C20 plank door to left. No. 7, left-hand cottage, has an outshut against its left-hand side with the thatch roof extending in catslide over it. Late C20 2-light casements without glazing bars. Leanto C20 porch in angle with outshut has part-glazed door. Interior: no. 7 to left has fireplace with high moulded wooden lintel. Roof Structure integral with that of adjoining Swan Cottage (q.v.) to right and although C19 it incorporates some smoke-blackened timbers.
