WESTGATE 1. 1348 (North Side) No 62 (The Wheatsheaf Inn) TF 3287 2/11 2.11.54. II GV 2. 2 houses. A low 2-storey late C17 house with steep pantile roof, ? brick covered with roughcast. Painted legend 'Established 1627'. 3 late windows to both floors, sliding sashes, one hung sash on ground floor. Plain doorway, segmental arch, door of 4 panels; other part a C18, 3-storey brick house, English bond, modern cement tiled roof, dentilled eaves cornice. Ground floor has flat archway and C19 pilastered and modern fenestration, 2 windows to 1st and 2nd floors, hung sashes with glazing bars in wide wooden cases, segmental arched heads to 1st floor, flat heads to 2nd floor. Stringcourse at 2nd floor level. Late extension at rear. Nos 44 to 66 (even) form a group with Nos 82 and 84.
