2/13 Church of All Saints 14.9.66 II

Parish church. C12, early C13, C14, C15, in the main 1903 when the church was restored and the chancel, vestry and porch rebuilt. Dressed greenstone, some red brick and render and some half timbering. Lead roofs with plain tiles to the porch. Coped gables with single ridge crosses to the bellcote, east nave and east chancel. Single stack to the north east nave. Set on a plinth apart from the west and south nave and buttressed. Nave with west bellcote, south porch, chancel and north vestry. The south aisle and tower have been demolished. Gabled bellcote with single arch for bell. The west nave wall is slightly set back at the apex and has a sinqle arched window with 3 trefoil arched and cusped lights. Under are 2 vertical rows of quoins. The north nave has a blocked doorway, to the right is a single window with 3 trefoil arched and cusped lights. The west wall of the vestry with doorway with plank door and the north and east walls each with single windows with 2 arched lights. The east chancel has a single arched window with 3 cinquefoil arched and cupsed lights, hood mould, label stops and continuous sill band extending to the south chancel. South chancel with 2 windows, that on the right with 2 trefoil arched and cusped lights and on the left with 3 similar lights. The south nave has a single heavily restored C15 arched 2 light window with panel tracery, hood mould and label stops. To the left is the C20 gabled, half timbered porch with decorative barge board. Arched doorway with double door flanked by single decorative trefoil arched lights with lead lozenge panes. 4 similar lights in each side wall. Inner chamfered arched re-set early C13 doorway with continuous imposts, hood mould and single worn human head label stop to the right. Interior. Double chamfered chancel arch, the inner order supported on circular responds. Heavily restored C15 chancel screen with cusped panel tracery. Chamfered chancel/vestry arch, foreshortened to the west. The west wall of the nave has the remains of C12 continuous imposts. East and west corners of the south nave wall with evidence of single responds, probably C14, to former aisle.
