Details
EASTON EASTON PARK SK 92 NW North Lodge, gates 6/77 and gate piers at north west corner of Park, onto Al road G.V. II Gate lodge, gates, gate piers and screen. c.1840. Squared coursed limestone rubble, slate roof with overhanging eaves and decorative scalloped bargeboard, single ridge ashlar stack with 3 octagonal shafts and moulded tops. T-plan. Single storey with garret, 2 bay front with a 3 light mullioned window with to right a canted bay window with parapet and similar 2 light window. The windows have leaded lozenge lights. In the side front a further canted bay window and in the angle a square open porch with parapet and octagonal angle pillar covers the 4 centred arched planked door. Inside a contemporary fireplace with fluted surround and roundels to the angles. To the right a pair of cast iron gates with pierced mid rail and plain verticals, flanked by large square ashlar gate piers, moulded cornices supporting orbs. To either side are pedestrian gates with square cast iron panelled piers and beyond are cast iron screens standing on low ashlar walls and terminating with matching shorter square piers to those at the main gate. Built as a gate lodge to Easton Park for the Cholmeley family.
