SY6778NE TRINITY ROAD 873-1/23/381 (South side) 18/06/70 Nos.15 AND 16 The Kings Arms Public House (Formerly Listed as: TRINITY ROAD The King's Arms Public House) (Formerly Listed as: TRINITY ROAD No.16)

GV II

Public house, incorporating also a former dwelling, No.16. C18 and early C19. Rendered, slate roofs. PLAN: No.15 was raised with an attic storey in the later C19, and has a deep rear range with wide mansard roof to a hipped front and gabled rear. The front may be on an earlier fabric; the low ceiling heights contrast noticeably with No.16, adjoining. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic, a wide gabled central dormer with decorative barge-board and finial covers paired 6-pane sashes set to a sill band. At first floor is an 8:12:8-pane bow oriel with cornice carried across as a string, and a 16-pane sash; the ground floor has a 2-light shop front below the oriel, and to the right 2 arched doorways to deep reveals, each with painted-in fanlights. The first has a 6-panel door, and the other has a C20 window inset. This section has a high plinth, and a coped parapet at the level of the eaves of the dormer. The rear has a small 2-light casement to the attic above one sash and one replacement light, above flat-roofed extensions. No.16 has a parapet higher than No.15, and is in 2 storeys and attic, with a small 2-light flat-roofed dormer above 2-window frontage, all 16-pane sashes except for tripartite 8:12:8-pane sash oriel to the right. Central flush panelled door under plaster 'shell' fanlight, on 2 stone steps; a similar door and fanlight, probably to a throughway, lies to the far right. This range has a plinth carried through from No.15, moulded cornice, blocking course and parapet. A lofty gable stack, raised in brick, to the left, and the back has a small gabled wing with a small 16-pane sash above flat-roofed extensions. INTERIOR: not inspected.
