WOMERSLEY MAIN STREET SE 51 NW (north side)

5/20 Went Farmhouse

GV II Wrongly marked on Ordnance Survey Map as Public House Farm. Farmhouse. Probably late C17 with later additions and alterations. Magnesian limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and brick porch; pantile roof with stone slates to eaves, ashlar copings and kneelers. Lobby-entry plan. 2 storeys, 3 bays, with outshuts to rear. Entrance a 6-panel door within C20 porch. 2-light casement windows throughout mainly within double chamfered surrounds with C17 tooling. Swept roof. Moulded kneelers and copings. Large rubble ridge stack with 2 diamond set chimneys and brick end stack to left. To right gable end a mullion window within double chamfered surround and with chamfered mullion. Interior reputedly has original staircase now boarded in. North Yorkshire and Cleveland Vernacular Buildings Study Group Report No 463.
