3/2 Rectory Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. Probably late C17 with later additions and alterations including C19 raising of roof pitch. Magnesian limestone with stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 bays with range to rear. Original entrance to right gable end, now blocked, with chamfered surround and shallow-arched heavy lintel. Central entrance inserted into former window opening, a plank door with overlight under weathered cavetto-moulded hood. 3-light casement windows throughout, except single-light window over door, those to ground floor under cavetto-moulded hoods, all set in C17 double-chamfered surrounds. First-floor left window has only the remains of double-chamfered surround. End stacks, that to right projects and has chamfered plinth. Right return has a ground-floor 2-light mullion and transom window within weathered double- chamfered surround under hoodmould. To first floor a 2-light mullion window within double-chamfered surround. Remains of similar windows to rear, now partly obscured by later builds.
