10/147 Anthony House
II
Longhouse, probably mid C18. 2 builds but almost contemporary. Coursed squared tooled stone with pantiled roof; stone copings, kneelers and stack.
One storey and loft. Entrance front has hearth-passage door to left of centre and small loft window above, both rebated. Further left another byre door flanked by vent slits; 2 vents in similar positions above, under eaves. Right (house) part blank but for 1 small window at extreme right. Roof has stone ridge and copings, central stack with cornice missing, pointed kneelers at north end and square at south. Pitching doors in return gables. Rear shows house front: At left a single light then a 2-light mullioned window, both chamfered. At right a boarded byre door, with narrow chamfer, flanked by joggled slits; 3 similar slits above.
Interior: walls about 2-ft. thick. Doorways from passage to byre and house, the latter chamfered and with wood inner lintel. Plain C18 stone fireplace with salt and spice cupboard recesses to right. Salt cupboard has rebate for small door. All joinery gone. Post holes for loft beams filled in house but not in byre.
