Espsyke Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse, early-mid C18 with rebuilding or refronting of main house in third quarter of C18; C20 alterations. Finely herringbone-tooled coursed large sandstone. Pantiled roof with stone ridge, copings and kneelers, brick chimneys. Hearth-passage plan. Lower, older right part two storeys, two bays; main house two storeys, two wide bays. Top-glazed six-panel through-passage door under wedge lintel with raised keystone; lintel overlapped at left by slightly-projecting main house. Three-light small-paned C20 casements (except for nine-pane fixed light above door and C19 tripartite window, with central opening sash, at first floor left). Windows in main house have projecting stone cills and those on ground floor have wedge lintels with tall projecting keystones. Fairly high-pitched roof; block kneelers; end chimneys to house and on right of downhouse.
