Pair of houses, one build. Late C18. Finely herringbone-tooled coursed sandstone; pantiled roof. Two storeys, two and one bays, irregular. Double-stepped plinth.

Downhill Cottage has C20 stable-type door to left of centre; 28-paned fixed light to left, sixteen-pane sash to right. First floor left 24-pane Yorkshire sash, right C20 two-light casement with glazing bars. Beadle Cottage (on right) has left recessed door of six-fielded panels, right early C20 plain sash. First floor 24-pane Yorkshire sash and inserted small light at left. All but the modern windows have projecting cills. Right end chimneys.
