House, possibly C17 with alterations. Painted incised rendered walls, pantiled
roof, brick stack. 2 storeys and attic, 2 bays on gabled front elevation; 1-bay
right return to Chapel Street. Ground floor 3-light small-paned fixed windows,
that at right with an inserted opening casement, that at left with central
double-hung sash. On first floor 3-light small-paned casement at left and small
4-pane sash at right. C20 pivoted attic casement. Right return shows half-
glazed door in C19 wood surround, with bracketed cornice, and shop front at
right under extended eaves. Ridge chimney at right shared with Staith Cottage
(qv). Robin Hood is said to have lived on this site.
