House with separate dwelling on lower floor. C17 with alterations. Herringbone-
tooled coursed sandstone; pantile roof with stone copings and kneelers, brick
stack. 3 storeys, 3 bays, very irregular. 2-panel door to the crypt. Small low
window to right; left five window blocked and ornamented as small grotto. Fire
window on first floor above, and 4 very small openings, the 2 middle ones higher.
Similar pattern of openings on second floor. All windows modern except for a
small Yorkshire sash on top floor. Right end stack with top rebuilt. Entrance to
St Stephen's Bede House on left return gable end: C19 2-panel door under C20
gabled woodhood on long brackets. Modern door plaque gives a date of 1633. Very
small inserted light above and small roughly chamfered attic window. Small
rendered addition at left is not of special interest, and neither are small front
projections.
