ESKDALESIDE-CUM-UGGLEBARNBY ESKDALESIDE NZ 80 NE (north side, off) 4/63 Chapel of St.John (formerly 6.10.69 listed as Eskdale Chapel) - II Also known as Eskdale Chapel. Chapel, now ruinous. C13 or earlier. Squared sandstone on chamfered plinth. Nave and chancel continuous. Remains of roll-moulded south door traceable. West wall survives to greater height and contains remains of chamfered window opening. Only irregular fragments of north and east walls above plinth level survive. The Victoria History of the Counties of England: York, North Riding; Vol.II, p.514.
