CONEYSTHORPE THE STRAY SE 77 SW Castle Howard 6/22 Gate piers, railings and end piers immediately north-east of North Lodge GV II Gate piers, railings and piers. c1874 with later restorations. Sandstone ashlar piers with wrought-iron railings. Gate piers square on plan approximately 4 metres high with curved railings approximately 5 metres in length and 1.5 metres high. End piers square on plan approximately 3.75 metres high. Plain gate piers with moulded plinth and cornice surmounted by ball finial on stepped base. Railings on low wall have lancet heads. End piers have plinths, pulvinated panels to sides, moulded cornice surmounted by ball finials on stepped base.
