Details
HUTTON-LE-HOLE THE VILLAGE SE 7090 SE 7089 (east side) 11/90 Moorgarth and Dickens Cottage GV II 2 houses. Mid C18 with extensions and alterations of late C19 and C20. Main front of squared sandstone with herringbone-tooled quoins; extensions of tooled and hammer-dressed sandstone; pantile roof; brick and stone stacks. 2-storey, 2-window main front, flanked by lower 2-storey ranges, of 3 windows to Dickens Cottage to right and one window to left. Moorgarth: 6- panel door in tooled doorcase to left of main front. Rear access door to right beneath divided overlight and tooled lintel. 12-pane sashes with stone sills and herringbone-tooled lintels to main front. Stepped eaves course. Coped gables and shaped kneelers; end stacks. Dickens Cottage: 6- panel door to gabled, projecting porch at centre right; 4-pane sashes with stone sills and tooled lintels throughout. Stepped eaves course. Coped gable to right. Left of centre stack. Interior of Moorgarth: quarter-round moulded joists throughout ground and first floors. All doors are of 6 raised and fielded panels. Dickens Cottage included for group value. Extension of left not of special interest.
