CV II

House, now residential home for old people. Mid C18; raised and extended 1817; later C19 and C20 alterations. Dressed sandstone to front; coursed rubble and brick gable wall to right; red brick in stretcher bond to rear. Slate roof; brick stacks. Central stairhall plan, originally one room deep; rear extension and single storey extension to right added 1817. 3-storey, symmetrical 3-window front. Raised quoins. Central 4-panel door under rectangular fanlight in pedimented, pilastered doorcase. Late C19 canted bays with segmental sashes to either side, under modillion cornices. Sash windows in raised surrounds. Raised first and second floor bands; moulded eaves cornice. End stacks. At end right of first floor is a circular sundial in a raised surround, with a filigree gnonmon incorporating the intitials 'TH'. Interior: open string staircase with turned balusters and decorated checkpieces.
