3/9 The Hill - 26.5.71 GV II
House, 1860. By William Butterfield for Viscount Downe of Baldersby Park. Red brick, English bond, ashlar bands and window surrounds. Blue brick detailing and C20 tile roof. Square building in High Victorian style. 2 storeys, irregular fenestration. Entrance front: recessed bay to left has porch with Gothic arch in blue headers and ashlar and original half-glazed panelled door. To right, 2 ground floor windows of 2 lights with mullions removed, and to first floor on right a 3-light window with sashes rising as a half-hipped dormer. All window frames appear to be C20. The main stack straddles the ridge and is stepped with tumbled-in brickwork. Formerly the Estate Agent's house.
