2/42 The Old Hall - 22.7.55 GV II
House, now a ruin. Early C17. Coursed sandstone rubble with ashlar details. South-east corner remains: two and a half storey gable wall of 1 projecting wing. Ground and first floor windows: 3-light mullion and transom with pulvinated frieze and pediment, triangular to ground floor, broken segmental to first. Lower part of architrave survives in gable. Shaped kneeler to left, with a single stone from a moulded eaves cornice to left return below. Left return has massive stack of 5 stages, with remains of ground and first floor fireplaces on inner face. The house stood almost complete, although roofless, in early C20.
