Details

WESTON MAIN STREET SE 14 NE (south side) 10/93 Weston Grange 22.11.66 - II

House. Late C17 with additions and partial refenestration in 1890. Coursed squared gritstone, graduated stone slate roof. 2 storeys, 5 and 2 bays with rear 2-bay wing; chamfered quoins to left. Main block: central 4-panel door in architrave flanked by canted bay windows. 5 flat-faced mullion and transom cross windows in projecting surrounds to first floor. Moulded string course at first-floor level. Added 2 bays: 2 rectangular windows in stone surrounds to each floor; shaped kneeler and gable coping to right. A large stack straddles the ridge above the entrance; banded ridge stacks flank the added bays. Rear: central moulded cambered arched doorway; projecting wing with 2 cross windows to ground and first floors, flat- fronted mullions to ground floor, chamfered above. Left return: a restored 3-light recessed chamfered mullion window to left; right return: blocked first floor doorway and window. Interior: C17 oak panelling and post and panel partitioning in the rear wing and between bays 2 and 3.
