GREAT AYTON LOW GREEN NZ 5510 (north side) 11/77 Gate piers and garden walls to Manor House GV II
Garden walls and gate piers. C18 and early C19. C18 walls pinkish brick, later walls coursed squared stone, piers ashlar. Older wall runs west from south-west corner of house then returns south for about 20 m. Round-arched gateway and flat stone coping. Later wall runs all around garden to south and south west of house and around garden to south of outbuildings, also along both sides of drive. Wall has sloped coping. At each side of drive an attached gate bier of rusticated ashlar with plinth, cornice and ball finial on swept base. A similar smaller pair of piers to single gateway just south of house. Part of wall nearest to outbuilding is much taller.
