Farmhouse. Dated 1678 "W,W" with C19 and C20 additions and alterations. Coursed
squared stone and coursed nibble; C20 artificial slate and pantile roofs.
Through-passage plan. 2 Storeys, 3 bays with single-storey bay added to left.
North (road) front: plinth; quoins; left bay of C17 range is rebuilt in coursed
rubble and from it projects a range not of special interest. Door of 6 raised
panels in moulded, quoined, elliptical-arched doorway with keystone and
monolithic lintel on which is rased date panel. To left of door on each floor
is a blocked, single-light recessed, chamfered window. to its right on each
floor is a similar 3- or 4-light window each now with a 3-light, 18-pane,
side-sliding sash with stone lintel and projecting cill. Shaped kneelers.
Ashlar coping. Artificial slate roof to C17 range, pantiles to added bay.
Stacks to ends of main range and added bay, the right-hand one external with
offsets and cornice, the top rebuilt in brick in the C20. Rear: C17 range:
plinth; quoins, 6-panel door to through-passage in chamfered, quoined,
Tudor-arched surround and with 3-light recessed chamfered mullioned window above
having leaded glazing to one light and one light blocked. Similar windows to
either side on each floor are all altered, now having side-sliding sashes as at
the front, of 3 lights to ground floor, and of 2 and 4 lights to 1st floor the
former (on left) being in the surround of a 2-light original window. On 1st
floor to left of door is the end of an iron tie-rod. The added bay, set back on
right, has quoins to right and a board door to left of a window, both with stone
lintels. Right return: 2 small lights in gable flank chimney coping has
nail-head decoration to head and at base sits in slot in kneeler. Left return:
small lst-floor light on right. Interior: all that remains of interest are some
principal rafters and purlins in the roof.
