II
Carved natural rock outcrop. Carving dated 1756, probably for the Earl of
Strafford. Naturally-bedded sandstone outcrop having flat face towards the
south-west with 3 blind,round-arched recesses beneath a sunken, shouldered panel
bearing inscription 'S 1756'. A gazebo structure overlooking Wentworth Castle
(q.v.) may have been attached originally.
