Detached house. 1907-8. By Percy Houfton for the Brodsworth Colliery
Company. Red brick to ground floor, roughcast above; later cement tile roof.
2 storeys, 2 windows to 1st floor. Wooden casements with glazing bars
throughout. Boarded door to right of centre under wooden canopy on curved
brackets; 4-light window to left and 3-light window to right under tile
dripcourse. 1st floor: two 4-light windows with tile dripcourse beneath
broad gable. Swept eaves; tall projecting brick end stacks with dentilled
cornices. Set as a lodge aside the southern entrance to The Park from the
Great North Road. Part of the 1st phase of Woodlands colliery village (see
under Church of All Saints, Central Avenue).
