Details

SK69SE BAWTRY HIGH STREET (west side), Market Place 10/23 Dower House Restaurant 5th June 1968 (formerly listed as No 1 Market Place) GV II House now restaurant. Early C19, altered. Roughcast brick, C20 cement-tile roof. 3 storeys, 3 bays with added 2-storey bay on left and wing to rear left; entered from right return. Ground floor has canted 1-storey bay window on right with moulded sill to single-hung sashes of 9, 12 and 9 panes. Bay 1 and 1st-floor have projecting stone sills to single-hung 9-pane sashes, with C20 louvred shutters. 2nd floor: projecting stone sills to C20 casements with glazing bars; C20 shutters. Eaves cornice masked by gutter; hipped roof with projecting brick end stack on right and stack to rear of ridge on left. Included for group value.
