5/41 Elms Farmhouse

GV II

Farmhouse. Probably 1864, for Charles Thellusson of Brodsworth Hall (as associated farmbuildings q.v.). Cement-rendered, slate roof. 2 storeys, 3 x 3 bays, twin-roofed. Ashlar plinth; large, projecting quoins. Main front, facing Brodsworth Hall, has narrow, projecting, gabled central bay with double door flanked by pilasters and with pediment. Above is casement and quatrefoil panel; shaped kneelers and gable copings. Outer bays each have renewed canted-bay window beneath 4-pane sash with sill blocks to projecting surround. Hipped roof with rendered stack to each ridge. Rear: lean-to porch, evidence of former wings now removed. Left return: 4-pane sashes to each bay. Right return: similar but with canted-bay window to left. Included for group value.
