Details

RAVENFIELD MAIN STREET SK49NE (west side) 1/80 Nos 2-14 (even) GV II Row of 7 cottages. Early-mid C19 in 3 builds. Coursed, dressed sandstone, Welsh slate roofs. 2 storeys, 5:5 windows to 1st floor, right-hand range lower. Nos 8-14 on left have single outer doorways and paired inner doorways with various part-glazed doors in bonded, dressed stone surrounds with deep lintels; external stone steps to Nos 8, 10 and 12. Projecting stone sills to various casements on each floor between the outer and inner doorways, all with glazing bars except to No 8 whilst No 10 has a horizontally-sliding sash to ground floor and extra casement over the door. Ridge stacks above party walls. Nos 2-6 on right: Nos 4 and 6 are in style of above with doors to left of windows on each floor; No 6 has old horizonatally-sliding sashes, No 4 has extra casement over door. No 2, of later build, is double-fronted with door flanked by tall casement on each floor. 2 brick ridge stacks and end stack to far right. Included for group value, No 2 only included as forming part of the row.
