Details

BRAMLEY MAIN STREET SK49SE (east side) 2/29 Warren House 4.1.74 GV II House. Late C17, altered late C18. Coursed, squared sandstone, C20 cement- tile roof and pantiles. T-shaped plan, wing to rear-centre. 2 storeys with attic, 4 windows to 1st floor. Large quoins. Chamfered, quoined doorway with C20 panelled door flanked on each floor by renewed sashes with glazing bars with projecting stone sills but no lintels. Boxed eaves, shaped kneelers and gable copings. Large central ridge stack. Left return: two 2- light square-faced mullioned windows to ground floor have casements with glazing bars, similar attic window. Rear eaves lower. Wing has doorway on right with chamfered, bonded surround with cambered lintel and houdmould; 2 windows on left as those to left return of main range; 3 single-light windows to 1st floor, 2 of them double-chamfered. Interior: kitchen in rear wing has spliced spine beam supported on Doric column, chamfered ashlar fireplace with cambered arch and keystone, Staircase with original newels and handrail, splat balusters probably replaced.
