Formerly listed under Delcombe Manor. Cottage, linked to Delcome Manor (q.v.)
Built c1750 re-using medieval material from Milton Abbey. Walls mainly of
flint and stone banding, part plastered, tiled roofs with coped gables and
finials, central brick stack. At left end, attached to screen wall of
Delcombe Manor, a single-storey range of stone and flint banding, with tiled
hipped roof. Loop window in centre, flanked by slit windows rounded at top
and bottom. Main block has mainly plastered walls, showing traces of stone
and flint.- 2 storeys. 3 gables on front; centre gable with slight projection
and diagonal buttresses. Ground floor of this has 2 C20 metal windows. One
similar window on first floor. In left gable, ground floor has a 2-light
square-headed stone mullioned window with arched lights. First floor has
one casement with cast iron glazing. Right gable has diagonal buttress at
right end. Ground floor has a 2-light square-headed stone mullioned window
with arched lights. First floor has a C20 metal window. Right of the main
block a wing wall of stone and flint banding - at right end of this some remains
of a former gable. Later brick at rear. RCHM Monument 11. (Dorset. Vol.III)
