5/53 Barn and stable at No 2 Lower Field Farm
II
Tall barn with adjoining stable block to north. C18. Coursed rubble stone with quoins, stone slate roof to barn, concrete tiles to stable. Barn has catslide roof over lean-tos on both sides, with central opposed raking entries only slightly higher than lean- to roof line. Both with timber lintel and double timber doors, doors set back slightly on west side. Five bays with 2 collar beams, no tie beams. Two slit vents and rows of dove perches on south gable end. Dove perches in north gable end. Stable to north has central plank door to stalls with wooden manger along rear wall, small lean-to to left, flight of 10 stone steps up to gabled loft door on right with 2 square openings on ground floor to right of steps. Right hand return has carved apex stone.
