Details

TEMPLE GUITING - SP 02 NE 6/132 Wood House, Guiting Wood 25.8.60 GV II Manor house. C17 altered C18, restored and altered C20. Coursed squared and dressed limestone, limestone slate roof, ashlar stacks. Rectangular main body with C20 entrance porches projecting left and right. Almost symmetrical facade. 2 storeys and attic lit by two C20, two-light casements. 5-windowed: original 12-pane sashes with wide glazing bars set within moulded architraves. Two double- chamfered 2-light stone-mullioned casements (now blocked) to cellar lower right. Single bulls-eye windows to porches set back on either side of main body. Central double C20 fielded panelled door flanked by engaged Doric columns with triangular pediment over. Original double-chamfered cross windows, some blocked towards front of left and right-hand walls. Roof parapet at front with inset rectangular panels and central ball finial. C20 octagonal lantern at centre of roof with ogee shaped top. Interior: substantially altered from original plan.
