8/109 Summerhouse in woods about 100m south west of centre of Wiltshire Bridge
II
Summerhouse. Early C19. Rubble stone containing fossilized material and small amounts of semi precious stones, not quarried locally. Cotswold stone slate roof. Square with 3 lancet arches to front, side 2 smaller and blind with parapet wall above. 2 open arches at side and at rear a pointed niche formerly containing a chimney whose stack is on rear wall with pyramidal stone cowl. Reputed to have been used by the poet Gilbert White and formerly on land owned by Barton Abbotts (q.v.).
