Former farmhouse. Probably built by the Bicknell family, dated
and initialled 1662 on a stone plaque at the south gable end
(initials not legible); extended late C18 and mid C20. Limestone
rubble with dressed stone quoins; stone slate roof; stacks
restored C20 in ashlar or with ashlar quoins. 'L'-shaped main
body with successive C18 and mid C20 extensions to the north gable
end. Early range: 2 storeys, attic and basement. Later
extensions: 2 1/2 storeys. Entrance (west) front: gablet to the
early range and C18 extension. Irregular fenestration: single-
light casements with flat-chamfered surrounds and 2-light stone-
mullioned casements with stopped hoods C20 lean-to porch with C20
panelled door and gablet flanked by single-light casements. C20
plank door with a concrete lintel far left. Garden (east) front:
asymmetrical gable to the early range, projects forwards left;
twin gablets one to each of the extensions. Two and 3-light
double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods.
Leaded panes to casements lighting the early range; all other
casements with horizontal glazing bars. C20 plank door far right.
Gable-end and axial stacks; large pyramidal finial at the gable
end facing the road. Interior not accessible.
