Barn. C17 or C18. Large coursed and squared limestone near-ashlar, thatched
roof to coped gables. A 5-bay barn to which a lower wing has been attached
rear, left. To road are three buttresses, left, under 2 ventilation slits,
large plank doors under wood lintel, centre and single slit, right; at this end
also some rubble walling at plinth level. Right gable has deep loading over and
partly incorporating a ventilation slit; left gable has 3-ventilation slits over
2 large arched openings and a C20 glazed door, with a low flying buttress; to
the left a flight of steps to loading door in extension. Back has deep cart
entry and low lean-to roof with weatherboard infill, and a deep wing to right
with 2-light casement and door. Left, low is opening to main barns. Interior
has old collar and tie trusses with 2 purlins; part floored. Important element
of group with Holcombe House (qv).
