GV II

Former school and school house, now house. Dated 1.840 on gable over door to former schoolroom. Coursed squared and dressed. limestone; concrete tile roof; ashlar stacks and stack restored with incised render. 'L'-shaped plan to house with minor later extensions to the rear; rectangular schoolroom to the left of the house. House: 1 1/2 storeys. Schoolroom: single storey. Gable of the house projects forwards right with a canted 4-light stone- mullioned bay window to the ground floor; 2-light stone-mullioned window with a relieving arch, above; 3-light stone-mullioned casement with stopped hood to the ground floor far right; 2-light stone-mullioned dormer with a tall gable upper right. All windows with ogee-curved heads and carved spandrels. Plank door within a flat-chamfered Tudor-arched surround to the left of the projecting gable, formerly within a gabled porch, now removed. Symmetrical 4- windowed front to the schoolroom which is lit by 2-light stone- mullioned casements with stopped hoods. Central double door within a Tudor-arched surround with carved spandrels and a stopped hood. Rectangular datestone with the inscription 'BADGEWORTH SCHOOL / Erected A.D. 1840' to gable above.
