6/15 Carpenter's Yard Barn
G.V. II
Barn. Mid C18 in the William Kent style. Flemish bond red brick, smut pantiles. 2 storey Greek cross plan with single storey infilling wings forming rectangle. West front has 2 storey gabled centre with 2 ground floor segmental arched boarded window openings. Central entrance bay recessed under semi-circular arch with boarded infilling has segmental arched boarded door. First floor platband. Pedimented gable with moulded base and verges, central brick round arched oculus. Angles of Greek cross plan have single storey ranges with roofs hipped at angles. To north 2 segmental arched windows and central segmental arched door to north and south ranges. Each facade shares largely the same details with variations in the windows. Some moulded brick cornices surviving. West range partly unroofed. Appears as block plan in Isaac Ware Plans. Houghton (1735) 1750 edition.
