Details
THORNAGE THE STREET, TG 03 NE (West side) 2/124 Old Foundry House and attached gate pier. GV II
House, C18, with attached C19 gate pier. Rendered and colourwashed with dentil cornice. Pantiles. 2 ranges with rear wing addition. 3 bays. 2 storeys. Flush sashes with glazing bars. 4 panelled recessed door between 2nd and 3rd bays having panelled reveals beneath shallow flat canopy. Left hand gable rendered. Right hand gable uncoursed flint with eratic brick headers. Rear range: pebble flint with brick dressings. Hipped pantile roof. First floor sash under scored cast iron wedge lintel. C20 single storey wing to rear. Gate pier attached to house to right, C19. Rusticated gault brick; cast iron double cap; 3 front panels with cast iron plaques showing decorative figure work. Cast iron cap to plinth. There was an iron and brass foundry on the site in the C19.
