COMPTON ABDALE COMPTON ABDALE VILLAGE SP 01 NE 5/27 Manor Farmhouse 23.1.52 II Former farmhouse, now house. C17 and C19. Thinly bedded limestone, stone slate roof to main body, artificial stone slate to C19 range. Long rectangular plan to C17 range with C19 stabling and store with accommodation over at left gable end. Probably C19 lean-to extension at rear of C17 range. C20 garage extension at right angles to the C19 range, not of special interest. C17 range; 2 storeys and attic. Four-bay, 3-windowed facade, all 3-light double-chamfered stone-mullioned casements with stopped hoods and horizontal glazing bars to first floor and to ground floor right of C20 gabled porch. One flat-chamfered and one double-chamfered stone-mullioned casement, both with stopped hoods, lighting first floor at rear of house. Gable end facing road; 2 storey, early C19 canted bay with 12-pane sashes to ground floor and 9-pane sashes to first floor, all sashes with horns and triple keystones. String between ground and first floors. Single light, double- chamfered garret window above bay window. C19 outbuildings, 1 1/2 storeys. Upper floor lit by four 3-light hipped dormers. Stone steps up to C19 plank door. Garage door left of steps, two 4-pane casements right of steps. Part-glazed C20 door and 2-light casement set within formerly segmental-headed opening. Quadruple axial stack and stepped gable coping to main body. Axial stacks to C19 outbuildings. Interior not inspected.
